I am a Christian

I am a Christian. That means that I fundamentally believe that the Bible represents ultimate reality and that it is God’s way of revealing himself towards humanity. In the same sense that Abraham believed God, I believe God. I think he created people to have a personal relationship with him. In addition to the heaven and the earth, God created Adam and Eve to have a personal relationship with him (Genesis 2). However, Adam and Eve disobeyed God and spiritually died (Genesis 3). The result of this disobedience, or sin, was that every person born would have a problem of sin in their life and would be born spiritually dead. This spiritual death is not how God intended for us to get our deepest needs met, and he set a plan in motion that would ultimately end with Jesus Christ dying on the cross and raising again from the dead.

Of course, a person could just decide to live however they want and disregard this, but it won’t satisfy the deepest need that only God can fill. A person could also decide to avoid sin to try and become righteous, but this won’t work either. For one, it’s plainly evident that a person couldn’t keep the law, such as the Ten Commandments. It says in the Psalms:

“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”

Psalms 14:1-3

When Jesus Christ was born, he wasn’t just a man who did or say good things, but he was God in the flesh. And he lived a life without sin and eventually was crucified on a cross at a place called Calvary. He died to allow our sins to be forgiven. In order to give us eternal life, he rose again from the dead on the third day. I believe the historical account of the Bible is accurate and believable.

Here is a quote from Jesus in the book of John:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

John 3:16-17

I believe that if a person desires to have a personal relationship with God, to get to know him personally, they can ask him to reveal himself to them and that he will save them if they believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died and rose again. By believing on Jesus Christ, he can make you spiritually alive again and begin a new relationship.
